I began drawing in church during the sermon. It was hard to sit still so my mother drew little faces to entertain me and I tried to copy them. My love affair with art began. My first job at sixteen, was charcoal and pastel portraits at a local amusement park. I received a BFA from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio and became a commercial artist before turning to sculpture and oil painting. I studied painting attending workshops of well-known artists:Jeremy Lipking, Daniel Greene, and Quang Ho.
My paintings are rendered in strong, warm hues and endeavor to draw the viewer into the work. Although I am driven to paint figures and portraits, I love to paint any subject matter, from still life and landscapes, to figures in interiors and nudes.
I am a member of the Cincinnati Art Club and Oil Painters of America. Currently residing in Cincinnati, Ohio, I find inspiration for my work in my family and in the beauty in the world around me.
